Galileo's air thermometer forces liquid down when heated. Heat the bulb with a hair dryer set on 'hot', or cool the bulb with the hair dryer set on 'cool' to show the change in the height of liquid in the column. Alternatives: Use the heat of a hand, or a cloth dipped in ice water.
