Iron filings and permanent magnets to show field on an OHP. Projected Images Various different magnets (bar, horseshoe, 2 bars etc.) are placed under a glass plate, on an overhead projector. Iron filings are sprinkled on top of the plate. The filings line up with the magnetic field lines , and are clearly visible when projected onto a screen.
