A Hoberman sphere is set to spinning while in an expanded (large diameter) configuration. A rope is tugged at the bottom causing the diameter to shrink dramatically and the sphere starts spinning very rapidly (decreasing size decreases moment of inertia. Conservation of angular momentum causes angular velocity to increase dramatically).
