Ammeter shunt: Only a small current flows to the meter. There are several ammeter shunts for display. They are made of copper, and are constructed so as to radiate a lot of heat. In a circuit with a large current, most of the current goes through the shunt, and a small amount goes through the ammeter. Thus, a sensitive low-current meter can be used to measure large current flows.
